Day One: (D)

When you arrive in the morning at the Zagreb airport your driver will meet you and transport you to check in at your 4* Hotel Majestic Plaza (or comparable) After you have had time to clean up and relax your guide will take you on a walking tour of the cities historical and cultural landmarks. Zagreb is divided into two parts the “upper town” and the “lower town”. The upper town includes the Kaptol area and its’ Assumption Cathedral with its’ soaring twin towers and Renaissance walls, St. Marks church and square, The Assumption Cathedral with its’ Renaissance walls, The Stone Gate with the pilgrimage chapel of the Virgin Mary, St. Catherines’ church andJesuit square, The Gradic area-Bell Tower, Dolac Market and Tkalcicena street with its’ famous cafes. The tour of the lower town includes the Green Horseshoe Promenade, Ban Jelacic Square and all the shops and markets, King Tomislav, Strossmayer and Zrinjevac squares their history and famous buildings, The “Old lady of Zagreb” and a ride on the Funicular that transports you form the lower to the upper town. Tonight your guide will take you to dinner at a great local restaurant. (D)

Day Two: (BL)

After breakfast your guide will pick you up to begin today’s adventure. You will travel into the gently rolling landscape of the Croatian Hrvatsko Zagorje. Your first stop will be the Castle of Trakoscan. This castle, with the unique ambiance of a lake, forest park, and white huddle of towers and battlements “awaits you like a fairy-tale that you can actually walk into”. This 13th century Romanesque castle was enlarged in the 16th and 17th centuries. The rooms of the castle, each unique and restored, transport you back to another time. After this tour you will travel on to a great local winery for a wine tasting of their fine white wines and lunch. This winery and its’ owners welcoming atmosphere, allows you to relax and enjoy your lunch of homemade specialties-ham, bacon, pancetta, cheeses, Zagorje strukli, and more. After lunch you will travel, through the countryside to Veliki Tabor Castle, standing high on a hilltop. This 12th century castle with its’ 12 different roofing materials, was finally finished in the 16th century. In addition to its’ restored rooms the castle serves as a museum showcasing many antique collections including medicines, armament, pottery and vehicles. After this you will return to your hotel and have the evening to stroll through the promenades and have dinner on your own. (BL)

Day Three:(B)

After breakfast you will check out and a driver will take you to Zagreb airport to continue your journey or travel home. You could easily spend three more days exploring the wonderful historical and cultural sites in the area surrounding Zagreb including beautiful Plitvice National Park.
