Day 1
Depart the U.S.A. to travel to Glasgow
Day 2
Glascow, ScotlandUpon your arrival in Glasgow, if you are traveling self-guided, you will be met by a SGH golf representative who will assist you with your luggage and present you with your travel guide and material before showing you to your waiting rental car. If you have chosen to be escorted, you will be met by your Golf Tour Manager, who will assist you with your luggage and show you to your waiting luxury motor coach. This vehicle is air conditioned, features reclining seats, TV’s, videos, hot and cold drink service, and a rest room. You will depart on a one hour drive to Troon and check in at the Marine Hotel.
Marine Hotel, TroonThis hotel commands a magnificent view over the Firth of Clyde to the Isle of Arran, and looks out onto the 18th hole of the Royal Troon Golf course, providing an enviable location that is hard to beat. The hotel offers complimentary use of the newly refurbished “Body Sense” health club with a pool sauna etc. The Fairways Restaurant has an enviable reputation for fine dining and was voted the second best hotel restaurant in the UK. Troon, a popular holiday resort and sailing center, and home to over 20 golf courses and a long sandy beach, is an idyllic spot offering breathtaking scenery. The town features a bustling harbor, independent cafes and quality restaurants, boutiques and a seaside esplanade.
Troon, Scotland Upon check in you will have the rest of the day and evening to rest and relax.
Day 3 (B)
Today after breakfast the golfers will be transported to play a round at Royal Troon Golf Club.
Royal Troon Golf Club
A frequent host to the British Open, Royal Troon is consistently ranked as one of the World’s best links courses. It was created by the hand of Willie Fernie, one of the great early British golfers in 1878. A classic links course in every respect, the golfer is eased into the challenge with each hole appearing to get progressively tougher. Narrow fairways lined with trouble make tee shots critical, its’ bunkers are punishing and Troon’s small greens require touch and imagination.
Royal Troon Golf Course
Note: Today if you choose, a second round of golf on the Troon Portland course is included, if desired, at no additional fee.
Culzean CastleAfter the golfers have departed to play Royal Troon, the non-golfers will be taken on a tour of Culzean Castle, one of Scotland’s most loved castles. The castle was constructed around a previous stately house for David Kennedy- the 10th earl of Cassili. Situated at the edge of a cliff, the Castle offers visitors spectacular and dramatic views of the surrounding gardens and walking paths, and the Castles interior houses a fine collection of historic paintings, period furniture and weaponry. After WWII the top floor was gifted to Dwight Eisenhower in acknowledgement to his services during the war.
After the tour and golf you will return to Troon where you will have the balance of the day and evening to roam around the town and have dinner on your own.
Day 4 (B)
Today after breakfast and checkout, the golfers will be taken to play a round at the Trump Turnberry Ailsa Course.
Trump Turnberry Ailsa CourseLong regarded as one of the finest courses in the world, polls regularly rank this course as one of the top three courses in Britain, and one of the top 20 courses in the world.
The scenic glories of the Ailsa Course are to be savored-the granite dome of Ailsa Craig, the low form Ailsa Craigof the tip of Argyll, and the peaks of Arran highlight the changing patterns of light and shade. Closer at hand, the lighthouse and the ninth’s lovely back tee are other symbols of historic Turnberry.
Scottish WhiskeyThis morning the non-golfers will enjoy “The Whiskey Experience”. There you will discover what makes the Scottish national drink so diverse and special. This experience will delight the senses and tantalize your taste buds. It is designed to introduce Scotch Whiskey to everyone. Fill your own personal bottle straight from the cask-a perfect gift.
You will then join the golfers for the drive to St. Andrews, to check in at the Scores Hotel.
Scores HotelOverlooking beautiful St. Andrews Bay and only a few hundred yards from the famous St. Andrews links; the Scores hotel provides the perfect base for anyone visiting this historic town. The first tee of the historic course is only a 7 iron away and a brief leisurely stroll takes you to the heart of St. Andrews. During the recent refurbishment great care was taken to preserve its’ tradition and character, and the public areas feature an extensive collection of period antiques lending the hotel a feeling of genuine warmth and friendliness that is often missing in today’s hotels. There are two dining areas and a lounge that is popular with the locals.
Unpack relax and have dinner on your own.
St. Andrews UniversityKnown as the home of golf, and home of Scotland’s oldest university, St. Andrews is a small town with a sizeable reputation that attracts visitors from all over the world. St. Andrews University, founded in 1410, dominates the center of town. The elegant ivy clad buildings and delightful quadrangles and gardens, have seen a procession of famous graduates, recently including Prince William. It is often compared to Oxford and Cambridge due to its’ defining presence and the collegiate feel that it gives to the town.
St. Andrews CathedralThe Medieval center of St. Andrews, with its’ narrow alleys and cobbled streets, leads to the now ruined Cathedral (once the largest in Scotland) and the adjacent church of St. Regulus where you can climb the 108’ tower for a magnificent view of the town and countryside. You may also enjoy the Botanical Gardens, the Aquarium or the British golf museum.
Day 5 (B)
Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Carnoustie Golf Links.
Carnoustie Golf Links
Carnoustie Golf BurnsRegarded by many including Walter Hagen and Gary Player, as one of the best links courses in the world, Carnoustie, though certainly long, is not a course for the un-thinking big hitter. With judgement of wind and distance critical, every tee shot needs careful placement to set up and approach to the green. While there is little background beauty the beauty of this course is in the golf course itself. The layout is such that no two consecutive holes face the same direction, a factor that does nothing for the golfer trying to find their rhythm in the face of often swift winds. Carnoustie’s famous burns that snake their way around the course-Jockie’s burn and the Barry burn are two more obstacles to posting a respectable score.
Glamis CastleAfter dropping off the golfers the non-golfers will visit Glamis Castle, located next to the village of Glamis, and home to the Earl and Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne. The castle was the home to the Queen Mother-Queen Elizabeth. The interior of the castle is beautifully preserved and is a treasure of historical architecture.
After golf and the castle visit your group will return to St. Andrews and have the balance of the day and evening to explore on your own.
Day 6 (B)
Today golf will be arranged on St. Andrews Old Course. The non-golfers will have the day free to wander this unique and historic town.
Swilkin Bridge St. Andrews
The oldest golf course in the world has many remarkable features which help make it so special to golfers from all around the world. It is the home of golf where golf was first played 600 years ago and yet it remains a real test of golf for today’s champions. Despite its’ reputation and status it is a public course. The course is known for its particular physical features including 112 bunkers with names such as “Hell”, “Strath” and the “Road” bunker at what is probably the most famous golf hole in the world- the 17th or road Hole because a road-which is in play- runs hard against the back edge of the green. The old course’s truly remarkable feature is that in today’s modern golfing world, a course that has evolved over six centuries remains a true test of championship golf.
Handicap limit-Men 24, Ladies: 36 you must have an official handicap card (USGA) or equivalent to play the Old Course.
Old St. Andrews
After golf you will have the rest of the day and evening to relax and have dinner on your own.
Day 7 (B)
Today after breakfast golf will be arranged at Kingsbarns Golf Club.
Kingsbarns Golf Club
Located directly on the North Sea Coast only six miles from St, Andrews, Kingsbarns is without a doubt one of the most breathtaking links courses ever developed. It is a real one of a kind and a contrast with Scotland’s other famous links courses in that it is a new man-made development. The sea figures prominently on every hole and one’s senses are continually pricked with the sights, sounds and smell of ocean spray. The links boasts spacious fairways, which roll and twist through majestic dune ridges and hollows, while its large inviting greens present the golfer with subtle challenges.

Requirements for 2016 booking tee times at St. Andrews Old Course:
Option #1-Advanced application: This is the most straightforward and cost effective way of obtaining a tee time on the old course. For 2016 they will continue the lottery to determine those successful in applying for tee times in the advance reservation process. It will no longer be first come first served. We will walk you through every step of the process and applicants will be notified directly by the Links trust if they were successful within 8 weeks of application. Using this method, if selected, you will pay your green fees directly to St. Andrews for the two courses booked. Depending on which course you choose in addition to the Old Course, the two green fees will run $340-$420
Option#2-Golf tour operators/Local hotels: Some hotel/tour operators have allocations of guaranteed tee times for the old course. We are normally sold out of these tee times by the end of the previous year. (In this case 2015). There is usually a premium on these times the amount of which can vary but it is usually $220-$600 more per golfer than option #1. A second St. Andrews course is included in this application.
Option #3-The Ballot Lottery: Approximately 50% of Old Couse starting times are not allocated to advance starting times but are allocated via the ballot. (Source St. Andrews links trust). With our golf tour designed to stay three to four days in St. Andrews your odds of receiving a starting time via the ballot system are good but not guaranteed. Our Scotland office handles all the details of entering your names for the ballot. On Thursday afternoon there are over 30 tee times and on all day Saturday 60 tee times. You will be entered in the ballot for each day you are in St. Andrews and if you are successful our Scottish office will take care of contacting and rearranging your tee time on the course you were scheduled to play that day and change it to another day.
Option #4-The Old Course Experience: As a tour operator, we can purchase packages from the Old Course Experience at wholesale rates. These packages include a three or four night stay in St. Andrews along with a guaranteed tee time on the Old Course and golf at two or three other local golf courses. These packages require a minimum of two golfers and the total cost is approximately $900-$1200 more per golfer than using the other options.
Option # 5- Standing By: There are normally 12-30 spaces on the Old Course each day that the starter will fill in with walk on players. Any two or three ball will be filled in to make it a four ball. Any golfer wanting to walk on will need to report to the starter on the day they wish to play and are filled in according to when they arrived at the starters’ box. Success depends on the time of year and how early you arrive. There is no additional cost using this method but it is not a guaranteed tee time.
The St. Andrews green fees are included in our proposed itinerary price in order to reflect a true and accurate cost of the entire trip. Once all of your golf and hotel reservations are confirmed we will send you a confirmed itinerary with the new tour price reflecting the payment of the St. Andrews green fees.

Booking your trip:
Your proposed itinerary will be confirmed when deposits are received by each member of your group. To confirm your package we need a deposit of 30% of the total package price, the balance will be due 90 days prior to departure. This deposit is non-refundable.
Our staff will then make reservations with each of your golf and hotel selections in a manner that most efficiently and comfortably allocates your time. Golf tee times and hotel room reservations are not confirmed until the deposit is received, so an early response should result in better tee times and desired accommodations.
1. Payment can be made by check, wire transfer, American Express, Master Card or Visa.
2. We recommend and can offer travel insurance which provides traditional coverage for luggage accident and cancelation for defined reasons. More information about the cost (normally 7%) and terms is available at the time of booking.
3. We need an accurate number of golfers who will play on the tour. Once tee times are arranged and deposits paid, fees may be involved to change or cancel the original reservation.
4. We will need the full names of all golf and non-golfing members of the tour, and the names must be submitted as they appear on their passports.
5. Standard accommodations provide a room with two twin beds. Requests for double beds must be made in advance. Additionally, requests to upgrade to superior rooms or to guarantee view rooms must be requested in advance and will be charged at a higher rate. We will be glad to discuss these options at the time of booking. We will need your flight information-arrival and departure times and flight numbers. It is important that we get these as soon as your flight is booked in order to reserve your vehicle and schedule our employees to meet you.
6. The use of caddies is highly recommended (where available); as electric carts are very limited on the courses you will play and usually require a letter from a doctor. Please request the caddies at the time of booking. When caddies are used, you are responsible for paying their charges directly. Cost is approximately $65 per caddie plus a $15+/-tip
Confirmed trip:
A highly detailed, day-by-day confirmed itinerary including tee times will be emailed to you within a few days of receiving your deposit payment. This process may take longer if booking up to a year in advance as some golf courses do not open their tee time books until Jan 1st. the confirmed itinerary may be adjusted at that time to meet with your approval.
